Apartment - Simon


Exact location: Rue Dauphine, Saint-Malo, Saint-Servan-sur-Mer, centrally located in a speed reduced one-way street. For Google Earth fans: 048-38-400 N * 002-01-040 W. About 400 m to the sea / beach.

The flat is located in a classified 17th century house in one of the oldest and historically most interesting streets of Saint-Servan-sur-Mer. The whole rue Dauphine is classified as a historical monument. All the neighbouring houses are classified and of the same age.

The ground floor is occupied by an upholsterer. The 2nd to 5th floor of the house is occupied by a family from Rennes (separate entrance). They use their flat mostly on weekends, as they are living and working in Rennes. Our flat is on the first floor and has a separate entrance. No further occupants.

The location is central. A car is not necessary. You can reach all shops and restaurants of Saint-Malo and Saint-Servan-sur-Mer easily by foot.

A covered swimming pool (50 x 20m) is at a distance of about 300 m, the sailing boat harbour about 600 m, the market about 300 m and the passenger ferry about 600 m.



The flat is on the first floor (separate entrance), and can be reached easily via a broad staircase. In the flat are only three steps between the kitchen and the corridor, which leads to the bathroom, the two individual bedrooms and the private garden with its two terraces.

The ground level is different - so the garden is on the first floor.

Only the living room windows are to the roadside. All other windows are to the inner court or the garden. You will sleep well.

The flat has been restored in its original character. Where possible materials and traditions of the middle age and of Brittany have been used. With the exception of the living room (parquet) the floors are made with tiles from the region, reproduced in the traditional way.

Flat and garden have approximately 140 m2 (85 m2 flat / 55 m2 garden). Entrance/wardrobe, sitting room with chimney, kitchen with dining corner and chimney, bathroom with shower and WC, two separate bedrooms, garden with two terraces. The garden is surrounded by a wall and is only accessible from the flat.

You enter a fully furnished flat and not an empty holiday flat. You will feel at home. Especially in winter or with not so good weather you will be very comfortable in front of the burning chimney fire.


Sitting room

A sofa with two matching easy chairs, sofa table, various other chairs, cupboards, shelves and other furniture are there, please refer to the photos.  

Stereo equipment, radio, DVD, CD, cassette recorder, TV (13 French programs), more than 250 CDs, music cassettes, some DVD´s.

Books and a collection of criminal books in the English, French and German language.

Many cooking books in the French and German language, we love cooking.

With at least 20 different lamps you can create the atmosphere desired by you.

Children and adult games are in large wooden box.

In front of the chimney is a second dining area for 6 - 8 persons. 



The very cosy kitchen and sitting room are not separated by a door, the "personal" is not  "excluded".

Dishwashing machine, porcelain double sink, electric cooker, 4 ring oven, exhaust fan, fridge, microwave, electric grill, electric kettle, coffee machine, espresso machine with corresponding porcelain, Bosch kitchen machine, electric blender, electric hand mixer, toaster, electric waffle-iron, electric citrus press, a very large cooking pot for seafood, an assortment of copper cooking pots, an assortment of stainless steel cooking pots, fish cooking pot, crepe pan, various other pans, various pyrex pots / frying pots / pans, various earthen cooking plates, various earthen frying pans, cheese fondue, normal fondue, fondue accessories, two balances, various hot-plates, various baking moulds, salad dryer and salad bowls, kitchen mortar, various kitchen tools, more than enough cutlery, dishes, glasses, cheese cupboard, kitchen yarn, pepper mills for black and white pepper, more than 30 spices, self made red wine vinegar, and, and, and.

The CHEF will find probably ALL he might need.

In the kitchen is a dining area for six persons.



Bathroom with shower, wc, washing and drying machine, all ironing equipment, hair dryer, two electrical heatings.


Bedrooms / Sleeping

We have two separate bedrooms. One with Japanese beds, one with normal beds.

All beds are 1 x 2 m with lattoflex system and German bedding. Two pillows per bed.

All beds have good reading lights.

There is a cupboard in both bedrooms. In addition there are large drawers under the beds for you belongings.

You can also use the sofa in the sitting room. It is an acceptable bed for 2 persons and very comfortable for one. If you want to do so, please provide our own bedding (sleeping bags).

We are equipped for 4 persons. Bed linen in sufficient quantity, also for changing, is available.



Private walled garden with two terraces, garden furniture, sun-umbrella, garden grill and hammock.



You can heat the flat at all times of the year with 8 electrical heatings. In the bathroom you will find two. You will be comfortable.

In addition there is a chimney in the sitting room.


Telephone / PC / Internet / WIFI / TV

A telephone is available and in the region of Saint-Malo you can telephone free of charge, of course you can be called.

To our knowledge this is the only apartment in Saint-Malo offering a PC with an unlimited high-speed internet access, a Brother HL 2030 black/white laser printer and WIFI (without password).

You can ONLY receive 13 FRENCH programs with a SMALL TV. Cable assess is for the time being not possible in our road. We do not want to place a parabolic aerial on the roof of a classified 17th century building.



In the shed under the staircase you will find a second fridge (for bottle cooling and ice cube making). Next to it is an ice box with cooling elements for excursions.



Parking in our garage (1.000 m) or in front of the house on the road or next to the swimming pool (300 m) -  you will always find a parking place, if you do not want to walk until the garage - practically nobody does.



Dogs (no cats please) are very welcome - our Labrador is called "Captain".


The rental price includes:

Arrival time 18.00 hours, departure time 10.00 hours.

Form 10.00 hours onwards you can place your luggage in the flat and have a stroll in town.



The caution is Euros or English Pounds or US $  250,--, not for the broken cup or the lost spoon, happens to us too.


Nothing is counted neither at your arrival nor before your departure.

But for other damages, not returned keys and other "mayor surprises".

Until now we never had a problem.



25 % down payment and the caution cheque of "x" 250,-- are requested within one week after receipt of the booking confirmation.

The final payment has to be made six weeks before the rental period starts.
